The Maqasid Network (MN) is a global platform that unites researchers, scholars, and practitioners committed to ensuring that Divine guidance drives life, learning, and leadership. Through the Maqasid Institute (MI), we offer dynamic research opportunities, including the Journal of Contemporary Maqasid Studies, research forums, and collaborative projects. Our educational programs—such as the Graduate Studies Program and General Education Stream—integrate Maqasid principles into personal and professional development, fostering a holistic, purpose-driven approach to knowledge.

The Maqasid Network serves as an intellectual and practical ecosystem that MI cultivates to reinforce the role of Revelation in shaping life, education, and work. By applying the Maqasid Methodology, MI seeks to support MN members in:

Choose Your Membership Pathway

Affiliate Member: All members start as affiliates after completing the Maqasid Methodology course or writing a critical review of the book, “Re-envisioning Islamic Scholarship: Maqasid Methodology As A New Approach” . This step is important to provide all members with a common understanding and language. After fulfilling this requirement, members can transition to higher levels of engagement based on contributions and efforts.

Membership Benefits
  • The right to use the designation of “Maqasid Institute Affiliate Member” in bios and CVs, etc.
  • Eligibility to apply for fee waivers for online educational events and other activities, subject to availability and other organizational limits.
  • Ability to publish approved content on MI social media platforms with minimal support from MI staff.

Active Member: This membership is earned by contributing 10-20 hours a month of organizational support, expertise, and other logistical support to MI.

Membership Benefits
  • All affiliate members’ benefits plus
  • The right to use the designation of “Maqasid Institute Active Member” in bios and CVs, etc.
  • Issued a “Recognition Letter” acknowledging their contributions.
  • Free access to online educational events and other activities, subject to availability and other organizational limits.
  • Ability to publish approved content on MI social media platforms with advanced support from MI staff.
  • Invitation to participate in special projects with a possibility of financial compensation depending on the availability of funds.
  • Eligibility for recommendation letters and referrals by MI senior scholars and staff.
  • Eligibility for consultation sessions from MI senior scholars and staff.

Research Member: This membership is earned by regularly contributing research and knowledge through MI’s channels, representing MI in academic and research events, presenting approved research, coordinating a research group, project or program, teaching, or delivering training materials or coursework, or making other forms of knowledge & research-based contributions.

Membership Benefits
  • The right to use the designation of “Maqasid Institute Research Member” in bios and CVs, etc.
  • Issued a “Recognition Letter” acknowledging their contributions.
  • Free access to online educational, research, and academic events and other activities, subject to availability and other organizational limits.
  • Ability to publish approved content on MI social media platforms with advanced support from MI staff.
  • Invitation to participate in special research projects with a possibility of financial compensation depending on the availability of funds.
  • Eligibility for recommendation letters and referrals by MI senior scholars and staff.
  • Eligibility for consultation sessions from MI senior scholars and staff.

Sustaining Member: This membership is provided to those who support MI efforts with a monthly contribution of US$50 (US$600 annually) or more.

Membership Benefits
  • The right to use the designation of “Maqasid Institute Sustaining Member” in bios and CVs, etc.
  • Free access for 5 people to online educational and other activities, subject to availability and other organizational limits.
  • Ability to publish approved content on MI social media platforms with advanced support from MI staff.
  • Eligibility for referrals and networking support by MI senior scholars and staff.
  • Eligibility for consultation sessions from MI senior scholars and staff.

Fellowship and Senior Fellowship memberships: These memberships are offered based on advanced or significant contributions to MI’s vision and mission. The basic criteria include making a scholarly contribution or an organizational impact utilizing the Maqasid Methodology in research or a real-life project.

Membership Policies

  • Membership is open to all researchers, scholars, professionals, and organizations interested in the Maqasid-based approach to knowledge and solutions.
  • Members are expected to be supportive of MI’s vision, mission, centrality of the Revelation, and the general principles of the Maqasid Research Methodology.
  • Members must maintain a respectful and collaborative environment.
  • Maqasid Institute management reserves the right to rescind the membership status of any member as it deems necessary.
  • Being a member of the Maqasid Network does not give the member the right to speak officially on behalf of the Maqasid Institute.
